			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Many exercise lovers (and the rest of us who simply do exercise because we know we have to!) will advocate the benefits of using a treadmill as part of a fitness regime. These machines are designed to give low impact exercise and, as such, can suit just about anybody who wants to get fitter.</p>
<p>A treadmill is kind of like an exercise conveyor belt. With a manual treadmill the belt moves when you walk or run on it. A motorized treadmill runs the belt for you. In both cases you stand on the machine, get the belt moving and then walk, jog or run to get the exercise you need. You can set the controls on most motorized treadmills to cope with your own fitness levels and they can be used at home as well as in a gym or fitness center which makes them potentially even more useful.</p>
<p>The treadmill that you use in the gym may be larger and have more settings than the one you use at home but home versions are also real useful. At the very least this gives you access to an exercise machine that you can use when you like in the comfort of your own home. Many home treadmills are often foldable so they do not need to take up much space at all and can be stored out of sight if you prefer.</p>
<p>Treadmills are also popular for use at home as they can be used while you do other things. So, using this kind of exercise machine does not have to eat into your free time too much. Many people, for example, will have a session on their treadmill whilst they are watching TV.</p>
<p>Experts have long championed the benefits of walking and running from an exercise perspective and using a treadmill can give you all of the associated benefits. The big plus here is that you can take your exercise safely at home or at the gym at any time and in any kind of weather.</p>
<p>Using a treadmill can give your body an excellent cardio-vascular workout and can help you to improve your own overall fitness levels. These machines are also a good way of increasing your endurance. With a motorized treadmill you can change the belt speed, slope and/or resistance and with a manual treadmill you can simply run faster or stay on the machine for longer periods.</p>
<p>Treadmills are also great exercise options for beginners. You can use these machines to get a gentle start to your fitness program and can increase your work rate as your fitness levels increase. Most machines here will also give you shock absorption protection (often known as low impact) which can help protect your body against sprains and strains.</p>
<p>And, more advanced treadmills can help the experienced exerciser as they can be customized to show useful fitness information. So, for example, you could use your machine to measure your heart rate to make sure that you are working out hard enough or to assess how many calories your workout is burning off for you.<br />

Thus by taking a few minutes a week on the maintenance of your equipment, it can appear brand new.<br/><br/>3 Killers of exercise machines<br/><br/>1) Perspiration<br/><br/>Take a dry towel and wipe any sweat from off the treadmill every time you finish a workout. Perspiration has acidic properties and over time can harm the belt on your treadmill equipment. Sweat will also make the belt slippery and thus dangerous for the next person after you.<br/><br/>2) Dust<br/><br/>Dust and dirt will impede the workings of your electronic board and inhibit the movement of the belt. Therefore, dust your treadmill exercise equipment once a week; use a clean dry cloth to remove dust from the belt and the area under the belt, and use a moist cloth on the electronic board, ensure that it is moist and not dripping wet or damp. Also never use oils or polishing material on your equipment, as that will strip away the good oils allowing the metal parts to rust..<br/><br/>Every couple of months, gently remove the hood of the machine to clean up any dust or dirt that has accumulated inside.<br/><br/>3) Belt Maintenance<br/><br/>Every month you should check the belt on your treadmill to ensure it is aligned and that it seats securely. For the new machines the belt tends to expand after a few uses, or start to slip, that is natural, just fit it back to its place. The machine is being broken in and after a few re-fits it will work fine. The screws to tighten the belt is usually located at the back of the treadmill, be careful not to tighten too much. A small turn is usually all that is needed to tighten a lose belt. To realign a belt pull genteelly, do not tug, tugging at the belt will only cause tears and spoil your belt. If you encounter any difficulties tightening or realigning the belt, seek assistance from the manufacturer or the store where you first bought your treadmill equipment.<br/><br/>New treadmill machines generally do not need belt lubrication, and therefore you should only grease your belt if the manufacturer expressly recommends it. Most manufacturers who do recommend regular lubrication tend to sell DIY kits with instructions and that tends to simplify matters a lot.<br/><br/>A proper maintenance schedule for your equipment is not all that time consuming at all. When in doubt about the specific care that is recommended for your equipment, contact the manufacturer for additional information before taking on any tinkering.<br/><br/>Taking Proper Care of Exercise and Fitness Equipment<br/><br/>Getting the most out of your exercise and fitness equipment does not always refer to how often you work out or to what amount you workout. In fact do you know that the quality of your workout is actually directly related to the quality of the exercise and fitness equipment, and that is not to say anything about the cost of the equipment, but rather the sate of repair that that the equipment is in. Nothing is worse for you than to work out on a poorly maintained piece of equipment, you risk injury and also your time and effort is not netting you the correct results.<br/><br/>The Problem of Neglect<br/><br/>You might think that your exercise and fitness equipment is working just fine without you taking much care of it. But the fact is that your equipment may only look fine and may be developing little problems inside as a result of not being properly handled and taken care of. It is these small problems in the equipment that, on adding up, leads to its undoing of your equipment and a deteriorating quality of exercise for you.<br/><br/>For example, if one is using spring loaded exercise equipment and the springs have not been properly maintained, rust will set in The presence of rust will then corrode the metals and thus, cause problems with the entire machine itself.<br/><br/>Proper Care Must be taken<br/><br/>Storage is another vital aspect to the proper care and maintenance of exercise equipment. This might seem a trivial or small thing but actually it is of great importance. Remember to always put the equipment back where it belongs- be it in a closet, or if it is too big, in an area away from direct sunlight and free from dampness. Exposure to such elements will damage certain crucial parts of your equipment. If so, then you already know that working the entire body, instead of focusing on one or two areas, will give you a better overall feeling of health and can have other lifelong benefits.<br/><br/>For instance, many body workouts will help to straighten the back and increase endurance and help to lower blood pressure. If you are going to work the entire body, you will find that a lot of the time you will be using endurance machines, which include elliptical machines, stationary bikes, treadmills, rower machines and stair stepper exercise equipment. These are known as cardio machines and have the ability to give you a full body workout. This is why they are called body fitness machines or body fitness equipment.<br/><br/>- Treadmills:<br/><br/>Treadmills are great for a good cardio workout. Treadmills can either be used to simulate brisk walks, or can be used for intense sprints or longer jogs or a combination of all three. Treadmill exercises are going to be very personal, in that there are a lot of different ways in which they can be used to get the full body workout. This is all done by either changing the speed of the treadmill, usually from 1 mph to 10 mph, or by inclining the treadmill. Sometimes an inclined treadmill is better for joints and will work different parts of the leg muscles.<br/><br/>- Elliptical Machines:<br/><br/>Elliptical cross training, can allow for a full body workout as they usually have you holding onto arm bars while the legs go back and forth. Most ellipticals can also be inclined at varying degrees, and also have different resistance settings that can make an elliptical workout very intense. Ellipticals are great for people that have bad joints and cannot take the pounding that is inevitable with treadmills. This is becauase an elliptical is designed to be very smooth and the joints are never under strain. It also burns calories very quickly without straining the joints they way treadmills can.<br/><br/>- Stationary Bikes:<br/><br/>Stationary bikes have been the standard in body fitness equipment and cardio workouts for a very long time. They are also very easy on the joints, just like elliptical machines. They will also provide overall cardiovascular conditioning while providing all around fitness. Stationary bikes are great because they burn calories quickly and do not usually cause serious fatigue after use the way treadmills might.<br/><br/>- Stair Machines:<br/><br/>Stair machines, also called steppers or stair exercise equipment, are terrific for the legs and buttocks. They can build great muscle in the calf area and the buttocks while also offering a great cardio workout. Stair stepper exercise machines can provide very intense cardio workouts in the same way that treadmills can. This is a very intense workout and will condition the body very quickly. Steppers are good for the joints as well.<br/><br/>- Rowers:<br/><br/>Rower machines, although not as popular as other body fitness equipment, offer a more complete body workout then most other machines. This is because they work the legs, arms, back, abdominals and buttocks. The legs provide most of the power while the upper body does the rest. It is always better than not running, isn&#8217;t it?<br/><br/>In fact, being a member in a fitness center has many advantages, such as the variety of equipment. On the other hand, there are also many complaints from the customers some fitness centers accept so many members that they need to queue up in order to use such equipment. Moreover, there might be some trainers talking to you during the exercising, but all they talk about is nothing but convincing you to get themselves commissions. They do not care if the customers are feeling bored or not.<br/><br/>If you have faced this kind of situation for a few times, it is more than boring, and that might lead you to not going there again, and that means it is a waste of money. Anyhow, I have a better solution, and that is adapting your house into your own small fitness. Firstly, I am going to talk about how to choose a treadmill. Because the price of it is not that cheap, the money you are going to invest should be worthwhile.<br/><br/>What are the key factors to help you decide which to buy?<br/><br/>* Size and Weight - There are many sizes of the treadmills available almost everywhere. The price of the small one is not expensive, probably around $250-$500 USD. On the other hand, some of the bigger ones cost more than $2500 USD. You should choose the treadmill that the width of its fits the size of your body well. Do not buy a small one just because of its cheap price because it will probably get you bored from its size. You might fall from it while you are running on it. You should test it to see if it is okay with you and see if you can run on it for a long time without any distress.<br/><br/>* Horsepower - You should only buy a treadmill that has 1.5-2.0 horsepower. Treadmills which have less power than this will need your own energy to drive in the initial stage.<br/><br/>* Top Speed - Actually, it is not a very significant factor because we are just joggers, not greatest runners who run at the highest speed. Furthermore, running or jogging for health does not need you to go too fast. We mainly focus on going slowly and continuing for a long period of time, but if you are a professional runner, the treadmill&#8217;s top speed should be considered as an important factor because if its highest speed is not enough, it will cause you difficulty in the interval training, which helps you strengthen and fastening yourself.<br/><br/>* Adjustable Slope - some treadmills can adjust its slope for 10%-11%, and we should not make it less than this if we would like to keep training on the mountain running. Some treadmills can make it 25%, and I must say that it seems to much and more than enough.<br/><br/>* Smoothness - You should be able to keep on running smoothly even when we change the treadmill&#8217;s running speed. Some might say that the best treadmill will be smooth as silk as the Thai Airways&#8217; slogan. Anyway, you should slowly increase or decrease the speed at a time because you might get hurt if you do it too fast.<br/><br/>* Options - You should consider them before you make a decision. Some treadmills contain so many programs for you, such as regular running, mountain running, interval running, and weight-control running, and so on. Some can be programmed for both running type and time and also your running record. However, do not forget that the more options contained, the more expensive the price. You should carefully consider if you really need those options or not.<br/><br/>I have another advice. The calories counter on the treadmill will not show you the exact numbers because I have run on so many treadmills and found that the number shown in there were not the same. Use the time as your module is always better. Heart-beating rate measurement is also a good suggestion. Nowadays, almost all treadmills have it. Try to control it not to exceed the Target Heart Rate.
